M14/xbow/LAR has better defence, however you will need space and time for big zeds when you're on your own.

sniper has a time delay before it kicks in, and movement small speed boost is surprisingly helpful to avoid small hits that pile up, plus the firing speed can make a difference in time when killing multiple big zeds. I agree that it's nice to have at least 1 source of raw damage with the m14, i vary them a lot put preffer rack em because: You won't two shot them like with rail, but are more effective vs literally everything else. The only edge a railgun loadout has, is better dmg vs fleshpounds. Use TR only with Winchester if you can't afford the M14 yet, then immediately change to rack em up if you got it.
Then at lvl 15 you can choose between tactical reload or rack em up. (probably works at lvl 25 for hoe too, not sure though) Personally I use both at the same time because it makes you decap sirens with a single headshot up to suicidal at least. M14 deals 90 dmg and one of those two skills make it break 100 which is clot body health. It is important to get either the level 5 stationary extra dmg or the lvl 10 crouch extra dmg. You won't kill lots of stuff with a rail so you won't get xp to level.ītw, don't belive those which recommend the skill tree on the right for a M14 loadout.
